Supporting Scholars

The Taylor Center welcomes emerging and established scholars from any academic discipline, whether you are a faculty, student, or community-based researcher.

  • We are here to support you in your efforts to advance our knowledge and understanding of the fields of social innovation and changemaking.
  • We also seek to promote a social innovation research community at Tulane, in New Orleans, within the Ashoka U global network.
  • We do this through hosting writing retreats, organizing research-themed social innovation conversations, disseminating and sharing monographs, reports and other knowledge products, and offering research project funding.

At Taylor, we practice persistent curiosity and recognize that everyone has knowledge to gain and share.

  • We also share internal reports, project reports and other work from our changemaker networks.
  • We also can help you circulate your manuscripts, share peer-reviewed publications, and presentations.
  • Themes span design thinking for social impact, decolonizing design, changemaking pedagogy and teaching approaches, case studies of social innovation education, and critical perspectives on changemaking.

Write

Our structured, silent Writing Retreats support all writers to write more and connect with other writers. We sponsor 1-day social-innovation-themed writing retreats in the New Orleans area.

  • Enjoy a supportive setting built around the “pomodoro method” with 6-8 blocks of silent individual writing, plus breaks, during the day.
  • We invite faculty, scholars, staff, graduate students, community organizations, and practitioners.
  • If you are interested in joining any of our ongoing writing retreats, contact Anna Monhartova at amonhart@tulane.edu.

To learn how to host your own low-cost silent writing retreat, read our guide: How to Host a Writing Retreat (pdf)[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
